Warren Stands by Lie That Cops ‘Murdered’ Michael Brown

Speaking to reporters after a town hall event in Franconia, New Hampshire on Wednesday, presidential contender Elizabeth Warren stood by her lie that Michael Brown had been murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014.

“5 years ago Michael Brown was murdered by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri,” Warren declared in a tweet last week. “Michael was unarmed yet he was shot 6 times. I stand with activists and organizers who continue the fight for justice for Michael. We must confront systemic racism and police violence head on.”

Warren subsequently was called out on this false claim by conservative media, and yesterday a reporter for ABC News asked if she still thought Brown was “murdered.”

“What happened is that a man was shot — an unarmed man, in the middle of the street, by police officers, and left to die,” she reaffirmed. “And I think that’s where our focus should be. It is the fifth anniversary of that occurring, and we need to talk about how to make real change in this country.”
