So. Dakota Gov. Responds to Maher’s Insult

Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem responded to comedian Bill Maher‘s derision of “flyover” Americans by declaring herself “blessed to be from the Heartland.”

In Maher’s monologue last Friday night, speaking about Amazon’s decision not to build a new headquarters in New York, the HBO host said the company should take the project to a “fly-over state” instead. He joked about Middle America as less cultured: “We have Chef Wolfgang Puck, they have Chef Boyardee.”

“I wholeheartedly disagree with what Bill is saying there,” Noem responded on Fox & Friends. “I’m blessed to be from the Heartland,” she added.
