Lieu Backs Omar and Tlaib After Israel Ban

Rep. Ted Lieu deleted a tweet Thursday in which he accused U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman of dual loyalty — the same anti-Semitic trope used in the past by Democrat Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

“Dear @USAmbIsrael: You are an American. Your allegiance should be to America, not to a foreign power. You should be defending the right of Americans to travel to other countries. If you don’t understand that, then you need to resign,” Lieu tweeted after Israel denied Omar and Tlaib entry because of their support for the BDS movement boycotting Israel.

Lieu subsequently deleted this, without apology, after being informed that his dual loyalty accusation has “historically caused harm to the Jewish community,” as he wrote in a tweet. And yet he left up several tweets making a similar accusation against Republican lawmakers such as Mo Brooks and Steve Scalise.

Lieu should be defending our ally Israel against the lies and subversive efforts of Muslims Omar and Tlaib. If he doesn’t understand that, perhaps he is the one who needs to resign.
