Julián Castro Unveils Plan to Combat ‘Police Brutality’

In a speech Saturday at MoveOn.org’s “Big Ideas” forum, Democrat presidential candidate Julian Castro unveiled a plan designed to combat “police brutality” in the United States.

Castro’s official press release touts the three-fold “People First Policing Plan,” which appears to be a fundamental part of his campaign, as “one of the most broad and consequential overhauls of local policing in decades” and “the first proposal of its kind released by a 2020 presidential contender.”

The plan promises to end “over-aggressive” and “racially discriminatory” policing, hold police officers accountable, and begin the “healing process” between police departments and the communities.
