‘Hillary and Clinton’ Play Coming to Broadway

Two-time Tony Award winners Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow will team up on Broadway in Hillary and Clinton to play the titular political power couple.

Set in New Hampshire during the 2008 Democratic primaries, the four-person play centers on Hillary Clinton, her chief strategist Mark J. Penn, and her husband Bill as they wrestle over whether bringing in the former president will help or hinder Hillary’s troubled campaign for the party’s nomination. Her opponent, Barack Obama, is the play’s unnamed fourth character, referred to as “The Other Guy.”

It’s “an exploration of power and how it works, not only in the canvas of a political campaign but inside an enduring marriage,” says producer Scott Rudin.
