ACLU Takes Partisan Position Against Kavanaugh

In the wake of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony regarding sexual abuse allegations at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the American Civil Liberties Union has announced its opposition to his nomination.

Ordinarily, the ACLU does not support or oppose candidates for political or judicial office. But after an emergency meeting of the ACLU’s board of directors was called, it was determined that the organization would make “a rare exception to its longstanding policy,” said ACLU president Susan Herman. The board “voted to oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.”
