Additional Information on the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

Overview

* In the early 1980s, Tony Blair, who would later serve as British Prime Minister from 1997-2007, joined CND along with his wife, Cherie. Both were passionate advocates of nuclear disarmament who favored the ceding of British sovereignty to supranational arms supervisors. Blair eventually left CND for political purposes; i.e., his membership in the organization would have rendered him unelectable.
